New TDA CD Edges Toward Completion
TDA is currently in the studio recording and mixing a new album set for release in August 2007. Some songs to look forward to include "Heads and Horns" (Paul's paean to hunters' tattered trophies), "Blame It On Those Darn Accordions" (a New Orleans-flavored number about the subtle magic of the squeezebox), "Wrinkle Suit" (Paul's Willy Loman ode to traveling salesmen), a classic rock cover or two plus, of course, at least one polka about beer.

The official record release party is set for Aug. 18 at FitzGerald's in Berwyn, Illinois, and we've got more summer shows listed on the TDA Tour Dates page. Hope to see you soon!

Watch the New TDA Video
Our home-grown video for "My Friend Jim," which was shot on a shoestring in San Francisco and Stevens Point, Wis., is online. We certainly had fun making it -- we hope you enjoy it. Watch it now! (And if you like it, please forward it to a friend.)

P.S. Bret Hagen, the boogie mastermind behind the Electric Boogie Dawgz, plays "Jim" in the video. Thanks, Bret!

Summer Was Great While It Lasted
Good shows, good friends, good times -- just like a silly beer commercial. We've posted some photo galleries from our travels in our Photos section:

From Redding, Calif. (plus a couple spares)
Special thanks to Jim Mark and The Shasta Laker -- great shots, Jim (and there are lots more TDA pix on the Laker site).

From our Midwest tour (thanks, Bill from Milwaukee and Bonnie -- nicely done!)

Another Summer, Another Tour
We've been touring the Midwest every summer for more than a decade now, and this last one has to have been the coldest one yet. We had a great time, though, and made lots of new friends, as well as reconnecting with lots of familiar faces. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows (and double thanks if you bought a copy of "Lawnball")!

With the summer mini-tours successfully on ice, as it were, the TDA brain trust is engaged in an all-out promotional push to spread the word about the new album.

Here's how you can help: If you've heard any of the songs off "Lawnball" on the radio, post a message on our board or drop us an e-mail at tdapublicity@;yahoo.com (you'll want to get rid of the ; in that address before sending). Let us know what song(s) you heard, and what station(s) you heard it (or them) on.

If you have not heard any of the "Lawnball" songs on the airwaves -- and what a hideous turn of events that would be -- please contact us and let us know of any radio stations or shows in your area that you think might be receptive to playing the new record. If there's a particular DJ or station that has played our music in the past, we would love to hear about it so we can make sure they get a copy of "Lawnball."

And if you're so inclined, be sure to call or e-mail your favorite DJ or radio station to request your favorite "Lawnball" track.

We appreciate any help you can give us. See you next time!

TDA Rolls Out 'Lawnball'
Our new CD, "Lawnball," should be in stores all across America as of today. If you don't see it in your favorite outlet, be sure to bug the employees, in a polite-yet-persistent manner. Of course, it's always just easier to buy one direct from us via Globe Records.

We're mighty proud of "Lawnball." Naturally, it's got loads of Paul's humorous songs, and this time there's even a bit of (gasp!) heartwarming sentiment stirred into the eclectic musical melting pot.

You can hear some sample clips on our music page. Original tracks include "Lawnball," "Live It Up," "Dancing With A Dead Man," "There's Another Dumbass On The Mountain," "Rice For One," "Old Slow Guy," "Hungover in Clover," "My Friend Jim" and "Dr. Luv." You'll also find covers of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" and a Led Zeppelin medley ("Whole Lotta Love" and "Black Dog"). Special guests include Bay Area musicians Adam Gabriel (banjo, dobro), Nik Phelps (trumpet) and Jim Rothermel (clarinet).

Hope you like it!

More Praise for 'Lawnball'
The new CD proves "that squeezeboxes can do just about anything guitars can do, at least in the realm of good-natured, unpretentious rock or country (or campy ersatz soul like 'Dr. Luv'). The straight-up cover of 'Frankenstein' and the even straighter-up medley 'Whole Lotta Love/Black Dog' are both delightful, and I like the brutally honest lyrics of 'My Friend Jim.'... The most memorable song is the wickedly silly barroom sing-along 'There's Another Dumbass on the Mountain.'"
From the Chicago Reader

'Lawnball' Is Wonderful, Wacky
This should have been a one-time joke, but TDA is now on their sixth album, the humor and the winks are still coming and the crew has expanded outside its accordion-only format. You'd think this would be for NPR fans only, but it's wonderful, wacky stuff that goes its own way and really brings out the fans on the summer festival circuit. Tackling Led Zeppelin as well as their signature stuff, a good time is had by all and you should make a point of getting in on this party. Another wild, wonderful time from this SF crew that you'd think was from Milwaukee.
